MUSEUM OF DEMOCRACY’S FUTURE LEADERS OF AMERICA CIVICS AWARD
The Museum of Democracy proudly announces the inaugural Future Leaders of America Civics Award, an opportunity for students currently enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities to be recognized for their commitment to civic life and leadership.
This award celebrates students who are passionate about making a difference in their communities and who embody the values of democratic participation. All backgrounds and areas of study are welcome: what matters most is a love of learning, an interest in American civics, politics, or history, and a dedication to strengthening civic life at both the local and national levels.
Applicants are invited to submit a thoughtful essay of no more than 1,000 words addressing three key areas:
Personal Connection – Share your passion for American democracy: what experiences or influences sparked your interest in civics, history, or public service?
Civic Action – Describe how you have already worked to protect, preserve, or participate in our democratic system; whether through campus involvement, community service, activism, research, or leadership roles.
Future Vision – Looking ahead, what role do you believe young leaders like yourself should play in shaping the future of our democracy, and how do you plan to step into that role?
Essays will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Deserving recipients will be notified by email and awarded $500 each in recognition of their commitment to civic engagement.
